Department of Economics

The Department of Economics, Government J. Buana College was established in 30th November 1990 under Mizoram University. The department offers BA Core Course under Mizoram University. The department was started with three year BA integrated Course of Honour and General Degree course which was replaced by semester system of continuous assessment pattern from the Academic Session of 2011-2012. There are six semesters course in under graduate. Students’ admission has been done according to the eligibility criteria framed by the College. The department has its own library keeping a number of reference books, other related study materials and old question papers.

The department also has a wall magazine in which students display various topics relating to their study. Besides the lecture method, the department has adopted the teaching aids like PPT presentation through audio visual, assignments, classroom seminars, group discussions and periodic tests to improve students’ learning.

The Department produced a large number of students passed and held a good division every year. The faculty members, other than regular routine in teaching also involved in various activities like remedial coaching class for weak students and also mentoring the students. To enhance and improve the students in their personal development, the core students are assigned to present a paper in their related subject.
